How did you come to TimeChimp?
Jorrit studied at the Hogere Hotelschool in The Hague. He describes his time at university as a business administration degree with a focus on gastronomy. âHowever, IT caught my interest and I did my second internship at a company that develops software for hotels.â After graduating, Jorrit worked for another company before deciding to apply to TimeChimp. âAfter completing my studies, I specifically searched for a job in the Customer Success field. I was able to start working at a company, but didnât feel quite comfortable there. So, I began applying for jobs again, and thatâs how I ended up at TimeChimp.â
What do you do as a Customer Success Manager?
Jorrit is often the first point of contact for our customers and handles many types of inquiries. âI typically receive support requests and investigate whether the problem occurs on our end or whether I need to help the customer specifically. Often, there is a simple solution, such as an unintentionally turned-off feature in the tool. However, sometimes I also have to investigate more precisely. Solving these problems and puzzles is enjoyable for me, and it gives me a sense of fulfilment every time I am able to truly assist a customer.â Furthermore, Jorrit also speaks with customers who have specific requests or who would like to be advised on the possibilities of our software. âFor example, we investigate whether individual requests also meet the needs of other customers and whether it would be beneficial to add these requests to a wish list.â
The leap into the unknown
During his time at TimeChimp, Jorrit has gained a lot of practical experience right from the start and has had a steep learning curve. Although it was unfamiliar to him at first, he found that taking the leap into the unknown was the best way to quickly master the tool: âTracking hours and expenses is a simple task, but the software offers much more than that. Its features are extensive, and customers frequently have questions about the project management or finance modules. This makes the work varied and sometimes challenging, as finding quick solutions can be difficult.â
Positive culture shock
Jorrit experienced a âpleasant culture shockâ when joining TimeChimp and quickly felt comfortable in his job: âI work with IT much more frequently on a daily basis, and it suits me better. The working environment is quieter than my previous job, where I sat in an open room with 50 people who were constantly on the phone.â Jorrit has a clear goal in mind for his professional growth: âNow, the focus is on answering support requests and getting to know the tool. However, I am particularly looking forward to working more closely with âmy own customersâ and evaluating their use of the software. This way, we can work together to figure out how the customer can truly succeed.â
After work & private life
In the office, Jorrit enjoys playing table tennis during his breaks and having a drink with his colleagues on Friday afternoons, which is typical for Dutch working culture. In his free time, he enjoys playing video games, cooking, and sports. As a result, work, gaming, and YouTube contribute to a substantial amount of screen time. đ âDuring the week, I also chat with my friends while playing games. Right now, weâre playing the new âCall of Dutyâ and the recently released Harry Potter game.â
Jorritâs girlfriend follows a vegetarian and gluten-free diet, so he always looks for delicious dishes that they can enjoy together. Some of his favourites include Japanese curry dishes and Pad Krapow, a simple Thai dish with lots of vegetables and wok sauce. âThatâs now also my girlfriendâs favourite dish, so thatâs a nice compliment for me.â
Although Jorrit is not a bookworm, he mentions two books that have touched him: âThe books âSapiens: A Brief History of Humankindâ and âHomo Deus: A Brief History of Tomorrowâ by Yuval Noah Harari really brought me a lot of pleasure while reading.â
